Books are getting out of date, online encyclopedia – a new information democracy – are telling the new truth.
The Wiki Truth, is a series of five gigantic books. Each book is ‘one page’ of Wikipedia. With these series I want to show how information has changed. 50 Years ago, we had an encyclopedia in our closet, our source of information. There were no doubts, the written information was our truth. Nowadays the truth isn’t fixed anymore; it became transient. It’s the wisdom of the crowd. And an endless amount. I get lost in this forrest of information.
For making the books, I asked ‘Wikipedians’ what the most large articles were on Wikipedia. They gave me a top 100; and I decided to print the top five. I spend days with downloading, each article is about 3000 pages long. I printed those, on my home-printer, and finally made classic encyclopedias of it. On the bottom of the book you read the first sentence that was ever written in this article; and at the top of the book you see the article as it is now. You see the information being created, being changed, being criticized, and being deleted. It are not professors who write the information, but Missy_1987, TonyTheTiger and Anonymous225.
The books became about 30 centimeters thick; about Barack Obama, the Catholic Church, Gaza war, global warming, and ‘race and intelligence’. Maybe a reflection of our time...,.. . … …Picture: Sissi Rosselli, Abitare, Italy ..
Information is updated again and again, new subjects are added every second. We have to distinguish sources, find a way in the forrest of information, behave ourselves as scouts. And we choose for ourselves when an answer is complete.

Design Fabrix (www.designfabrix.com)
I designed the identity of the company Design Fabrix. They sell a broad range of design products, from textile to porcelain. All products have one thing in common: they contain prints. Bright colors or blacks and whites; rough or delicate prints; visiting the website gives you the feeling of sniffing in a personal collection of design products.
I drawed a logo which shows the materials and tactility of the products. To show the layering that all the products contain, I printed the logo on different products. These became the real logo’s, 8 in total. Every time you visit the website, a new logo will appear.
Below you see the back of some of the business-cards. You see the back of the logo’s. Beneath those you see the front of the business-cards.

UDNR.org – Universal Declarartion of Nature Rights
I started my graduation with research in educational posters. Many years ago, they were indispensable for education. The subjects that were represented, were most time single details. Dragged out of context, very precise illustrated, to give an objective and truthful reproduction. I made drawings of hand-grenades, the classic way to observe and investigate an object. I represented them as a new educational poster.
Educational posters were a sustainable source of information.
Where should we learn about nowadays?
An open assignment about Africa. I wanted to get in contact with African citizens, and used Facebook. Soon I had a chat with a group of 7 people from different African countries. I got fascinated by their reactions, also my own. I noticed there were many prepossessed thoughts. Maybe fear, for the unknown, the unused. How do we see eachother? I did research about scientific differences between people. Soon, I found a document, written by proff. J. Philipe Rushton, called: ‘Race, Evolution and Behavior, A life history perspective’. He divides the human being in three different races. He got a lot of resistance, he was portraited as a racist.
In my opinion, racism is something else then seeing differences. Racism starts when you judge.
We shouldn’t neglect differences; we must see them, respect them, and work with them..
Brabant wants to be the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018.
I was asked to show my vision about Brabant. Brabant exists out of a thousand villages. With their collaboration and hospitality, the villages made Brabant grow to one of the most influential cities in Europe. I made a list with names of all villages, and fell in love with these beautiful names. I wrote a poem with the villages which start with the letter D. This poem, the words, gave me a route, by their position. I followed this route by car, to see what is happening there in that particular place. I got in contact with retired elderly, housewives, businessmen and a snackbar-owner. I photographed them, and their environment. It became a new portrait of Brabants’ hospitality. It will be shown in a exhibition, to promote Brabant as a nominee for Cultural Capital of Europe 2018.

(Did you know that Afrikaans is even more Dutch than Fries is?)
Some characters are used different, but have the same meaning; for example, ch = g, i = ì, sch = sk, z = s and ij = y. From here I designed new alphabet-characters, which show the connection in language between Holland and Africa.
My bag is already nine years old. First it carried the flesh, blood and intestines of a cow. Since two years the leather carries my stuff. It carries my most precious things everyday, is used to carry books and laptops – and still he is as strong as the moment of making. For each bag I use a different type of leather, depending on what I find on the market.

Sip Sneeuwvis (Snowfish) is a children-book I made for a cousin. It tells the story of Sip, a litlle fish, who discovers that he can swim in snow. It makes him the first snowfish in the world.
Why aren’t there snowfishes?
During my internship at IJsfontein I worked on one, large project. IJsfontein was asked to develop a teaching program about nanotechnology for secondary schools in Holland.
Nanotechnology is the technology of the future, and can change a lot in our lives.
They let me do investigation; I gathered teachers, professors and students from the University of Twente together, to talk about what nanotechnology is, and this teaching program should look like.
IJsfontein always want to gather input from the targetgroup itself. I arranged two sessions, where we sat with 16 pupils and tested their interest, to get insights in the way we should approach them.
To get their attention, I started the session with a game, to raise discussion. I gave them statements, they needed to say wherever they were ‘True’ or ‘Not true’.
This game is later also used in the real teaching program.
It all resulted in an extraordinary teaching program, see www.mijnnanotoekomst.nl.
An alternative architectureguide about the White Lady, the Design Academy building in eindhoven. The White Lady is a building with many stories. It started as a factory for Philips, with split-levels for women and men. Her history is tangible. Doors are openings in a building. Trough the past, they have let and seen everybody come and go. In silence, they tell a story.
